Job Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is one of the nation's premier academic pediatric programs. Its clinical and educational programs are consistently rated among the top ten nationally by US News and World Report. The Department is also a leader among Child Health research programs ranking third in the nation in the most recent listing of top National Institutes of Health funded Pediatric Departments with over $66 million in active NIH awards. The Department is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Residency Program Director at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Children's Hospital Colorado.
We are seeking a leader with a vision towards advancing medical education, training program curricula, and resident learning opportunities. The Program Director will be responsible for the administration and operations of the program, teaching and scholarly activity, resident recruitment and selection, evaluation and promotion of residents, and supervision, remediation, and disciplinary action of residents. The Pediatric Residency Program has a long tradition of training leaders in pediatrics and is nationally ranked in the top 10 by both Doximity and US News & World Report. The Department's ACGME accredited program consists of 112 residents across three training years and four separate match programs: a categorical program, a dual Medicine/Pediatrics program, a combined Pediatric Medical-Genetics and Metabolic Program, and a Pediatric Neurology Program. Primary clinical experience is conducted at Children's Hospital Colorado, the University of Colorado Hospital, and Denver Health.
The Director of the Pediatric Residency Program will be responsible for overseeing all tracks of the Pediatric Residency Program within the Department of Pediatrics. The Director will establish and nurture a culture of continuous improvement and collegiality, promote scholarship and innovation, respond to new demands and opportunities arising from a rapidly changing healthcare landscape, and represent and advocate for the Department's residency in local, national, and internal arenas. The Director will lead the admission and accreditation processes, as well as all relevant residency director roles within the Department's residency structure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the selection process to ensure that the program recruits an outstanding and diverse intern class with diversity defined broadly including race, ethnicity, specialty, research, and other academic interests.
- Building superb educational programs, ensuring that residents have exceptional experiences in all rotations and that faculty are held accountable for creating such experiences.
- Leading the assessment process for residents, one that includes the use of competencies, complies with ACGME policies, and ensures that residents receive useful feedback on such assessments.
- Leading the mentoring and personal/career counseling program for residents including effectively advocating for residents in applying for jobs and fellowships.
- Creating a strategy for continuous improvement and evolution of the residency program in response to opportunities and challenges including those in the healthcare delivery system and those created by our growing clinical and research knowledge base.
- Providing strong financial stewardship including effectively managing the residency budget, responsibly advocating for resources, and fostering philanthropy.
- Establishing a positive working relationship with residency and other relevant staff and, together, creating an organization known for its excellence in operations.
- Establishing a culture of innovation and scholarship by promoting scholarship among residents and program leaders.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
The full salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to education, training, specialty and internal equity.
Assistant Professor: $167,000 - $336,000
Associate Professor: $197,000 - $420,000
Professor: $244,000 - $540,000
The position provides a minimum of 0.60 FTE (60% effort) dedicated to supporting the administrative activities of the role. While the protected time is anticipated in lieu of any additional compensation, an additional administrative stipend of up to $25,000 may be provided depending on the specific candidate and their subspecialty total compensation level.
