Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Leadership & Planning: Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer of The Campanile Foundation (TCF) to provide strategic financial leadership and long-term planning for both state and foundation operations.
- Financial Management: Oversee the financial and accounting operations, including budgets funded by state and foundation resources, as well as investment income. Ensure the accuracy of financial reporting and the integrity of accounting systems.
- Audit & Compliance: Independently manage audits, prepare financial statements, and handle tax returns, including IRS Form 990 and related schedules. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with University Relations and Development (URAD) management and staff, SDSU Research Foundation (SDSURF), CSU Chancellor's office, campus offices, auxiliaries, and other organizations to support financial operations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with SDSU leadership, including vice presidents, deans, faculty, alumni, donors, prospective donors, and volunteers to support fundraising and financial initiatives.

Position Information
- This is a full-time, at-will role, offering comprehensive benefits.
- Position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to five years of experience in higher education or non-profit accounting or finance operations.
- Two years of professional financial reporting experience; forecasting; charitable trust accounting; as well as accounting for charitable restricted contributions.
Key Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge and expertise in the technical aspects of GAAP, with proven experience in financial statement preparation, as well as solid accounting skills in handling complex entries, reconciliations, and year-end procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with internal and financial audits and 990 tax return preparation.
- Ability to conduct complex financial analysis using large campus-wide data sets and provide recommendations to upper management.
- In-depth understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University and foundation resources.
- Proficiency with financial reporting and visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar systems).
- Skilled in managing investment portfolios, working with OCIOs, and understanding endowment management.
- Demonstrated expertise in cash management, including cash flow forecasting, maintaining liquidity, and maximizing investment returns through treasury management.
- Work experience in a university fundraising or not-for-profit environment.

The expected hiring salary for this position ranges from $100,000 to $120,000 annually.
