Position Description
The Director of PEBCI is responsible for leadership and direction of the PEBCI. The PEBCI represents an partnership that focuses on responding to the challenges of the fields of education and public schools by being in community with them, especially in the wake of the global pandemic and continued attacks on equity and justice work in public education. The Director of PEBCI should be a person who relishes capacity building and organizational development, is deeply committed to racial equity, who seeks to create equitable and sustainable organizational structures and practices between our College, the partner schools and their local communities, and who is excited to grow and change with the organization.
Recognizing the very collaborative nature of this position, the Executive Director will be directly responsible for two staff positions which are also being hired at this time: A Beloved Community Film Documentarian and Post-Doctoral Researcher. The PEBCI Director reports directly to the Dean of the College of Education at Seattle University and works collaboratively with PEBCI Faculty Co-PIs.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management (60%)
- Develop a vision and strategy, in collaboration with project faculty, for ongoing connection and engagement with PEBCI participants and funders to maintain the community.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of PEBCI to build capacity and deepen impact for educators and non-profit partners around beloved community.
- Provide hands-on project management support in developing specific aspects of initiatives while ensuring alignment with overall College of Education and PEBCI goals.
- In collaboration with Co-PI Faculty, manage Beloved Community Projects teams, including supporting their growth, prioritizing projects, providing feedback, and escalating issues as needed.
- Responsible for developing, maintaining and for updating a website that documents, narrates and curates the PEBCI.
- Build, organize and plan the work of PEBCI to culminate in a high impact festival that showcases beloved community projects, the documentary and visual art exhibit.
- Ensure ongoing mission-centric programmatic excellence and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems.
- Work collaboratively with PEBCI staff, providing them with clear, regular evaluations, and professional development opportunities and common sense of purpose.
Evaluation, Communications and Reporting (30%)
- Responsible for continuous and compelling storytelling to highlight PEBCI impact on transformational change within schools and communities through various communication channels, social media and with the Foundation. This includes ensuring that PEBCI work is grounded and centered in the voices of students, families, and communities.
- Develop and share knowledge products such as research, blog posts, funder reports, presentations and social media insights to disseminate lessons learned.
- Responsible for preparing and organizing quarterly reports to the Foundation and partners
Strategy and Fundraising (10%)
- Position the work of PEBCI in line with leadership of the College of Education, strategic partners, and potential funders to fulfill unmet needs and leverage PEBCI's unique model and strengths.
- Think strategically to leverage connections across all partner schools and other partners and College of Education programs/projects, to ensure opportunities for participation of students, other faculty and staff in PEBCI activities and projects.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Ed.D in education and/or a related field.
- Demonstrated proven leadership experience.
- Management experience with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage spending for a multimillion-dollar budget (in collaboration with our COE Budget Manager).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
- Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to planning, teaching and learning.
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
Preferred Qualifications
- Media experience preferred. Radio/audio experience a plus, but not required.
- Experience with large external grants in higher education.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may be changed or terminated at any time for any reason at the university's discretion.
