Director of Industry-Aligned Student Programs- Khoury College

About the Opportunity

The Director of Industry-Aligned Student Programs will be responsible for driving the success of customized experiential learning opportunities developed in collaboration with industry partners. This role involves closely partnering with industry stakeholders, driving and supporting the software/hardware development processes, serve as a subject matter expert mentor to students, and fostering an effective learning and working environment for students throughout their experience.

The ideal candidate will have strengths and experience in both software development and project/program management. The candidate should have experience developing software in an Agile/Scrum environment using modern software development tools and techniques. They should be well-versed in a variety of programming languages, development platforms, and developer tooling. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have experience with one or more of the major cloud platforms and be familiar with standard cloud deployment practices. The candidate must also have strong program management skills and experience in coordinating curriculum requirements, developing and documenting SOPs, ensuring compliance with relevant partner and university policies, implementing programmatic and curricular improvements, maintaining accurate student records, preparing reports and presentations on program outcomes, and organizing student events.

Focused on the Greater Boston area with a broader reach across Northeastern's network campuses, the role may also involve facilitating cross-campus collaborations.

Responsibilities:

Student Support

Monitor student progress and ensure timely completion of project milestones based on partner expectations and agreements.
Serve as a technical mentor to students on software development projects including both project management and technical implementation-level concerns.
Guide students through technical implementation hurdles in development, testing, and deployment as appropriate to the project, including but not limited to serving as an SME on modern software development tech stacks
Facilitate student orientation and onboarding processes to the experience and the industry partner nuances and expectation
Address and resolve student concerns and issues and organize regular interactions with students (serving as a liaison between students and industry when needed)

Program management:

Evaluate program effectiveness-create tracking tools and access university systems to analyze success and identify opportunities.
In partnership with the leadership team, develop plans to improve the program based on feedback and assessment results, and implement those plans.
Contribute to efforts to expand academic programs to other Northeastern campuses-ensure compliance, prepare required paperwork and documentation, when needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related field

Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Detail-oriented with strong ability to organize data; proactive with a problem-solving mindset; committed to student success and academic excellence; and, able to handle private or confidential matters with sensitivity and discretion.
Knowledge of two or more modern programming languages and experience with at least one modern tech stack for application development
Understand local and cloud deployment strategies and proficient with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Knowledge of and experience with Agile development and other software engineering practices
Experience in database design, data management, middleware development (API and others), and UI/UX development.
Ability to evaluate and choose appropriate developer tooling related to the various projects
