About the Opportunity
The Director of the Center for Leadership and Organizational Excellence (CLOE) is a strategic senior leadership role, reporting directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor & Chief Human Resources Officer. This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, integrated learning strategy that addresses the evolving needs of the University. The Director will lead initiatives to assess organizational and developmental needs, design and implement impactful training and development programs, and establish metrics to measure program effectiveness. These efforts aim to foster the professional growth and continuous learning of faculty and staff, aligning with and advancing the University's mission, strategic goals, and operational objectives.
The Director will lead the creation, execution, and continuous enhancement of impactful, faculty-driven, and corporate-aligned learning programs aimed at strengthening leadership and fostering a culture of continuous growth across the institution. This role will collaborate closely with faculty, staff, and external partners to deliver targeted development opportunities that address critical organizational needs, support career advancement, and align with strategic objectives. By leveraging innovative learning methodologies and a data-informed approach, the Director will ensure that all training initiatives are responsive to evolving industry standards and contribute to a robust leadership pipeline on campus.

About the Role
This role is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional to shape and elevate the University's learning and development landscape, fostering a vibrant culture of growth and advancement. As the Director of the Center for Leadership and Organizational Excellence, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a forward-thinking curriculum that integrates experiential learning, dynamic instructional materials, immersive training courses, and cutting-edge multimedia technologies. This curriculum will empower employees at all levels to engage in professional development and continuous learning, aligning with and advancing the University's mission, strategic priorities, and operational goals.
Key to this role will be building strong partnerships with University leadership, including senior leaders in the Division of Human Resources, the Office of the Provost, the Division of Strategic Partnerships, Academic Teaching and Learning, and other academic and administrative stakeholders, to ensure that all leadership development and training programs provide a high-quality, adult-focused learning experiences. By aligning learning initiatives with the institution's strategic vision - Preeminence 2030: North Carolina A&T Blueprint, the Director will support the development of a capable and resilient workforce ready to meet the evolving needs of the University.
The Director will play a pivotal role in shaping institutional policies and processes related to learning and development, exercising a high degree of autonomy in assessing needs, designing leadership development frameworks, planning impactful training programs, allocating resources effectively, and evaluating program outcomes. This position calls for a strategic thinker with a commitment to best practices and a strong track record in enhancing organizational effectiveness through targeted learning solutions.
Education and Experience
The successful candidate will have a master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field and a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in learning and development, organizational development, or a related area, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role. A doctoral degree in a related field and 10+ years of related experience is preferred.
The successful candidate will also have demonstrated experience in designing and implementing comprehensive training programs, leadership development initiatives, and learning strategies. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and change management practices.
