About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Director for Residential Life, Operations and Facilities, will oversee and manage the daily operations, facilities, and support on Northeastern's Boston campus. This position requires a high level of collaboration with Housing Services and Facilities Management to ensure the effective and efficient management of housing operations, maintenance, and enhancing the residential experience for students. The Associate Director will maintain a safe, secure, and well-maintained living environment supporting today's dynamic learners.
The ideal candidate will be student centered and solution oriented. The Department of Residential Life supports over 11,000 students living on campus. Under the direction of the Senior Director, the Associate Director is a member of the department leadership team and provides oversight, support, and assistance to professional staff and students. The Associate Director will help develop departmental policy and decision-making functions for achieving departmental goals and objectives. They will be charged with coordinating and implementing departmental decisions and directives and will process and resolve student/parent/guardian or staff concerns.
The Associate Director will oversee critical functions within Residential Life, including enhancing living learning environments, streamlining move-in/out processes and protocols, and enhancing opportunities for direct student engagement to better understand and address the needs of residents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in residential life, housing, or a related area within higher education. Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, training, and development.
- Strong understanding of housing systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and foster an inclusive community.
- Experience with crisis management and emergency response in a residential setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Provide strategic direction for all logistics of the Move-in, Move-out and Move-to- from processes.
- Manage day-to-day operations of Residential Life.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to facilities and operations within Residential Life.
- Develop and facilitate comprehensive training sessions for all student staff and professional members related to facilities and operations tasks: opening and closing, health and safety inspections, egress drills, and apartment/room condition forms.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of professional and student staff members.
- Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response protocols and procedures.
- Provide training and support to staff in crisis management, de-escalation techniques, and conflict navigation.
- Serve in an on-call rotation.
