Job Summary:

This position is responsible for managing, supervising, monitoring, and evaluating aspects of Facilities Support Services in the Facilities Management Department for the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus. Position serves as a key individual on the management team providing oversight for the Parking operation, Transportation, Grounds and Landscaping, Roads and Parking Lots Maintenance on the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Parking operation includes many special events during the year, rate surveys, ADA compliance, parking cards audits, new employees parking orientation, manage parking contract, management and oversight of one parking garage and up to 14 parking lots, etc.
  • Campus Grounds and Landscaping care, sustainability program, water conservation, tree planting program, xeriscape ideas, keeping the campus aesthetically pleasing, etc.
  • Transportation program, shuttles in good working conditions, coordinating shuttle routes/schedules with Children's and University hospitals, special events coordination, transition program vehicles from gas/diesel to electric vehicles, manage RTD contract, etc.
  • Roads and parking lot maintenance, parking lots and roads should always be safe and clean, well illuminated, good directional signage, striped, no potholes, closures coordination's with campus community, etc.
  • Campus snow removal operation, campus facilities should be free of snow and ice by 7:00am during business days, manage snow removal contractor, assist with campus leadership to provide report of campus conditions during storms, staff scheduling, equipment and supplies care and management, etc.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in planning, business administration, public administration, facilities management, construction management, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Five years' experience at the management level, including direct responsibility for Parking Operation, Transportation, Grounds and Landscaping Services, and parking lots and Roads maintenance, including budget, procurement, vendor management, contract management, emergency response, etc.

A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Seven years' experience of Facilities Management in an academic, health care, or public sector organization, Parking Operation, Transportation, Grounds and Landscaping services, and Parking lots and Roads maintenance, including budget, procurement, vendor management, contract management, emergency response, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Extensive knowledge of current facilities and business management methods and practices.
  • Considerable knowledge in facilities operations and management activities including parking programs, transportation, grounds and landscaping services, and parking lots and roads maintenance.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of accounting and financial management including a strong aptitude for analyzing systems and processes and how they impact budgetary and fiscal matters
  • Ability to administer, effectively plan, organize and direct a wide variety of facilities management and support services including developing strategic plans based on changing customer needs and resources.
  • Ability to be creative and responsive to customer needs within a highly regulated and complex environment undergoing significant changes and fiscal pressures.
  • Extensive and comprehensive experience in scheduling work and implementing an effective quality assurance program.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience in public speaking. Proficient in the application of various computer programs to enhance communication, gather key data/information, and assist in creating management decision making tools and reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, visitors, affiliates and representatives from external agencies or organizations.
  • Skilled in negotiating and building consensus to support decisions and programs.
  • Ability to effectively supervise professional, para-professional, trades, and support personnel.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse, multicultural populations and be inclusive in all interactions.
  • Must possess a current, valid Colorado Driver's License or can obtain one.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $78,388 - $99,710.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
