Position Summary

We are excited to welcome a new member to the SPDC team in a role dedicated to business students within the Love School of Business at Elon University. This is a hands-on role working with students on a dynamic team of four individuals committed to best practices within the career services space.

If you are a strong communicator with a passion for helping others determine and achieve professional growth, this role is for you! As the Assistant/Associate Director of Career Services (title dependent on experience), you will have the opportunity to assist the team in developing and expanding upon DEI efforts and contribute to the strategic direction of the Student Professional Development Center's work within Elon's Love School of Business.

The Student Professional Development Center reports through the Senior Vice President of Advancement and External Affairs. The Assistant/Associate Director of Career Services in the Love School of Business reports to the Senior Associate Director of Career Services in the Love School of Business.

As a new team member, your work will include:

The Assistant/Associate Director of Career Services for the Love School of Business provides professional development support to undergraduate and graduate students and alumni of the LSB. This professional development support is conducted through 1:1 appointments/sessions in-person, virtually, and via phone, drop-in appointments, classroom presentations and workshops. Appointments cover all facets of professional development including but not limited to resume reviews, cover letter reviews, networking, internship search, job search, mock interviews, offer discussions, career and major exploration. Each advising appointment/session is tailored to meet the unique professional development needs of each student. Additionally, the Assistant Director engages in continuing education to develop new programming that meets the changing needs of students and alumni pursuing opportunities for internships, full-time positions and acceptance into graduate and professional schools.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Assistant Director - Master's degree in any relevant field of study with minimum 1 year of experience with the following relevant work experience.

Associate Director - Master's degree and 2-5 years previous experience ideally working within career services, in a business school, recruiting, or in human resources.

Job Duties
  • Meet one-on-one with students to provide career advising in the Love School of Business; seek student engagement opportunities to encourage career conversations and support for students.
  • Develop and deliver high quality and timely programs/events/workshops/resources, including classroom presentations, geared to help business students with exploring majors/careers, networking and building connections with alumni, and conducting an effective internship or full-time job search.
  • Work closely with special business school populations such as: International Business Dual Degree Students, Business Fellows, 3+1 Cohort, and Professional Student Organizations.
  • Deliver career development instruction in BUS 1110 (Gateway to Business), grade and provide feedback on professional development assignments.
  • Work closely with Love School of Business faculty and staff, SPDC career development staff, and additional staff members across campus to support campus-wide career programming.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing content, maintaining online/web resources, and sharing event and employment opportunities with students, faculty, and staff.
