About the Opportunity:
The Director of Operations and Partnerships is primarily responsible for supporting the staff of the Center for the Study of Sport in Society (CSSS) and ensuring productive and efficient internal operations at CSSS. This position will report directly to the Executive Director of CSSS to provide accurate, updated program and staff information, and to keep the staff apprised of strategic developments.
Responsibilities:
The Director will provide vision, leadership, and direction to all aspects of Sport in Society's training and outreach programs. Specifically, this position will provide oversight and management of the program's progress against outreach, quality, integration, curriculum development, staff training, and research goals and deliverables. The Director will review all proposals to ensure goals and impact measures are addressed. The Director also develops marketing strategy to ensure programs are positioned to garner additional resources for CSSS. The Director also works with key NU staff members essential to the effective operations of CSSS (i.e. Budget, HRM, IT, Building Services, Development Office, etc.). The Director manages the operating procedures of CSSS including accounting, hiring, new hire orientations, staff conduct policies, reporting structure. The Director works with the Executive Director to manage and amend the CSSS Strategic Plan as necessary. The Director has primary responsibility for maintaining the fiscal integrity of the unit and a balanced budget across all segments of the organization. The Director has primary oversight for grant submissions, contracts and compliance.
Qualifications:
- MBA preferred
- 8-10 years of experience in academic program development and management or a related field (i.e. curriculum development) required
- Understanding of strategic planning and budget processes
- Management/supervisory skills required
- Strong problem solving, organizational, communication, technological and interpersonal skills required
- Proven experience in community organizing
- Ability to collaborate among senior executives of the University
- Proven commitment to Sport in Society values
- Demonstrated experience working with a diverse team
- Excellent written communication skills
- Strong relationship building skills
- Excellent technical skills - advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, significant experience with Banner Finance, SalesForce, Blackboard
- Athletic background required
