Associate Director - CATLR

About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY:

This Associate Director partners with the CATLR team and faculty to define and advance the frontier of education innovation, with a special emphasis on authentic assignments and assessments that promote evidence-based experiential learning. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in AI-informed assignment/assessment practices that improve the integrity and demonstrated quality of student learning. Experience in supporting faculty with the design and implementation of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning projects is also desirable. Successful candidates will have strong communication skills (written, visual, and verbal) and the capacity to create high quality, interactive online workshops/gatherings for wide-ranging groups of educators. Note: this position requires at least one day in the office each week on Northeastern's Boston campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Working with CATLR team and faculty to develop and assess innovative strategies that are grounded in university priorities (e.g., experiential learning, learning across global contexts, personalized learning, and student success in a world transformed by AI).
  • Designing, delivering, and making evidence-based improvements to on-ground, hybrid, and online offerings for educators from across the university.
  • Developing self-paced courses and online resources such as educator tips to advance educational practices. This includes curating and ensuring the quality of CATLR's website resources.
  • Supporting initiatives that have a center-, department-, or university-wide impact. This will include a special focus on data tracking, reporting, analysis, and visualization for the purpose of assessment, evaluation, and improvement.
  • Supporting faculty in their teaching-related scholarship by co-developing and facilitating SoTL programming and cohorts, in addition to providing individual consultation.
  • Contributing to scholarly teaching including: maintaining an active practice of scholarly inquiry related to teaching and learning; supporting grant and research work to advance teaching and learning, both at the university and in higher education more broadly.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Doctorate or terminal degree, including teaching experience in higher education.
  • Experience with faculty professional development in higher education, including conference presentations and publications to disseminate their work.
  • Proficiency with quantitative methods and tools for the purpose of data-informed analysis, research, and reports (e.g., Tableau, Salesforce, and Qualtrics).
  • Proficiency in developing written resources, presentations, and workshops for educators, including a track record of successful scholarship related to teaching and learning.
  • Investment in equitable, inclusive approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Experience providing confidential consultation support for educators while exercising a high level of discretion and independent judgment.
